Thai
Thai food is a fantastic source of Gluten & Dairy free meals. All the curry sauces are primarily made with spices and coconut milk.
Be careful with some of the stir fry's as they can sometimes contain soy sauce or chicken stock. But just speak to your waiter &
they can generally prepare you something suitable.
Indian
Indian food is great for Gluten Free as again most meals are just spices with either cream or yoghurt. However for dairy free you need to be a little more careful. I believe Tandoori is generally OK as it is made from spices but you should of course always check.
Japanese
Japanese is difficult. Majority of the foods contain soy sauce & many of the food is covered with Tempura batter made with flour. I would chose your restaurant wisely & possibly even call ahead to explain your situation.
Italian
Italian food is quite easy for a Coeliac. Risotto is a great alternative to pasta & the veal main meals are great.
Mexican
Nachos, Enchalidas are great but beware the Burittos, Quesadilla's & Fajiita's. You could try taking your own wrap with you & ask the restaurant to make it up with their fillings.
Spanish
Paella & Tapas. I can generally find a gluten free choice on the menu.
Chinese
Mostly due to language barriers, I have always found Chinese difficult. Generally the meat is coated with wheat flour in advance and it is often hard to get meat that is not coated. On occasion I have managed to get a vegetable Chop Suey flavoured with chilli, garlic & oil. Not my best dinner out but will get you by when at a function.
Modern Australian
Kangaroo Steak, Crocodile & the Aussie BBQ is an easy choice for Gluten Free foods. Australian Sausages from the butchers are nearly always Gluten Free, but it is a good idea to always check as some supermarket and chicken sausages are not always Gluten Free.
Malaysian
Laksa, Laksa, Laksa!
